Russ Skinner, MD
Dr. Russell Skinner is a board-certified medical doctor, the founder of Family Health and Wellness of Plano, and the Chief Medical Officer of My Wellbeing Compass. He is committed to maximizing the health and wellness of his patients by preventing disease, functionally treating illness, and promoting a healthy state of mind.
Family Health and Wellness of Plano, a premier multi-specialty medical practice which gives a whole new meaning to primary care. The center’s integrative services include primary medical care, chiropractic and physical medicine, medical/therapeutic massage therapy, IV Infusion and nutritional therapy, general fitness training, and medical esthetics, all aimed at maximizing the health and wellness of its patients.
Dr. Skinner graduated with honors from Abilene Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He attended Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he earned his medical degree. He then attended Texas Tech University where he completed his residency in Family Medicine in 2000.
His first practice was a general family medicine practice where he provided care to all ages, birth through geriatrics. His practice included office and hospital care, intensive care, cardiac care, emergency medicine, new born nursery, as well as nursing home care for his elderly patients. He moved to the DFW metroplex in 2008 and began working in an urgent care setting. After 4 years of urgent care, he moved to a more integrated practice setting, working with physical medicine providers.
In his pursuit to create a true medical home for his patients, Dr. Skinner founded Family Health and Wellness of Plano in 2015. Through this center he has created a quality-based environment, delivering personalized healthcare experience that is tailored for each patient’s needs and is respectful of their belief system as it relates to health. Stepping into this center, you would immediately know this is not your usual doctor’s office. Its design speaks health, not illness and promotes calm, not apprehension.
Dr. Skinner spends up to an hour with new patients and 30 minutes with follow-up patients. He does not utilize a nurse, but rather takes his own history, vital signs, and reason for your visit. Dr. Skinner believes that patients seek quality time with their physician, not the office staff.
In the same way, Dr. Brian Winningham and Dr. Jinna Mann, the center’s Chiropractors, as well as Jessica Boniol, the center’s Family Nurse Practitioner, all provide personalized care to their patients.
The center is also on the cutting edge when it comes to new therapies such as IV Infusion therapy which can be beneficial in helping with weight loss, recovery after physical stress, improving the immune system, nutritional support, treating heavy metal toxicity, and as adjunctive treatment for many other conditions.
When patients feel better, they want to look better. Dr. Skinner is recognized as one of the metroplex’s leaders in medical weight loss treatment and medical esthetics. He and his knowledgeable staff can effectively help patients meet their weight loss and appearance goals.
Dr. Skinner is truly a physician who focuses as much on his patients’ future as their present, a physician who actually does prevention. He is currently accepting new patients, and Family Health and Wellness accepts most major commercial insurances as well as self-insured patients.
